<p>Active Minds, Inc. is the only organization working to utilize the student voice to change the conversation about mental health on college campuses. Smith's own chapter is a student-run mental health awareness, education, and advocacy group on campus, working
to increase students’ awareness of mental health issues through events, workshops and panels, provide information and resources regarding mental health and mental illness, encourage students to seek help as soon as it is needed, and serve as liaison between
students, Counseling Services and the Wellness Department.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Al-Iman is a Muslim Student Organization affiliated with the National MSA network. The objective is to create an environment for Muslims and allies to bond in open spaces exploring Islam and the Muslim identity. In reaching this goal, the organization plans social events, organizes lectures, and holds spiritual spaces, conducive to growth and unity in and outside of the Muslim community. With Islam grounding the org, Al-Iman takes on both a spiritual and social role while also centering our civic and global responsibility to humanity. Through the work or this organization, we hope to increase the personal and communal understanding of the beauty of Islam and its true tenants of Iman (faith), Salam (peace), and Khidmat (service).</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Albright House is located on Bedford Terrace at the edge of campus, making it a quiet and comfortable environment to live in. Albrighters are welcomed into a beautiful brick house, built in 1900, with a homey and cozy feel. Our house community is friendly, flexible, and spirited: levels of involvement and participation are based on how comfortable each member is, and we always try to support each other. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We have a lot of house pride, especially during Convocation when we take house photos together on the front steps. Our house color is pink, and our unofficial mascots are a pink figurine of Jesus that doubles as a (broken) magic 8-ball, Pedro the Peach, and Tina the Fairy.&nbsp;</span></p>

<p>Coaches and board members have access to the main Ainsworth doors so they should be able to let you in there, then you go straight down the hallway through the doors, and continue straight to the hallway that leads to the ITT, and head across the tennis courts to the wall near the bathrooms and the doors to the outside.</p>

<p><strong>CURRENTLY INACTIVE</strong></p>
<p>Welcome to the Smith College Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Team! We are a group of Smithies who love to grapple in a safe and positive environment. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art focused on ground grappling. It was developed with the goal of creating a fighting form where size and strength do not matter. It utilizes body weight physics instead of pure strength, and it is a submission martial art, so you win by making your opponent "tap out". In addition, it has many applications in self-defense and MMA.</p>
<p>In this club, we will be learning the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu in a safe and comfortable environment. Newcomers are welcome and encouraged to come!</p>
<p>Meetings are Wednesday 3:30 - 5 pm and Sundays 4-6 pm in the rockclimbing gym! <br />Hope to see you on the mats!</p>

<p>Our faculty and administrative staff provide incoming students with an experience that is engaging, thought-provoking, exciting, rewarding, meaningful and fun&mdash;and that will help make their first year at Smith College a success.</p>
<p>Bridge participants attend lively presentations that explore the various dimensions of leadership. Seminar titles have included "Treasures to Success," "Finding the Activist in You," "(Un)Speakable Truths," "SENSEsational Expressions" and "Leadership: The Power of Our Presence." Social activities have included bowling, karaoke, poetry readings and visits to local eateries and shops.</p>
<p>During Bridge a number of faculty members and knowledgeable staff members offer seminars that allow Bridge participants to experience the academic environment in a friendly setting and develop contacts with faculty and staff, as well as learn something interesting.</p>

<p><strong>Student Leaders: </strong></p>
<p>Our trained and experienced Bridge leaders are professional, multi-ethnic and dedicated to offering a quality program. Student staff members are selected for their leadership experience and enthusiasm, interpersonal skills, ability to balance multiple responsibilities and strong desire to work with incoming students of color. The ratio of student staff to Bridge participants is approximately 1 to 5.</p>

<p>Chapin House, which was built in 1903, is part of the Green St. community, yet it is found right next to the Campus Center and only a few minutes walk from most academic buildings.&nbsp;</p>
<p>FUN FACT:&nbsp;Chapin's original staircase is rumored to have served as the inspiration for the staircase&nbsp;of Scarlett O'Hara's Tara in <strong><em>Gone With the Wind</em></strong>, since the novel's author, <strong>Margaret Mitchell</strong>, attended Smith. However, despite many sources claiming that she lived in Chapin, Margaret Mitchell actually lived in Spanish Influenza quarantine housing during her one year at Smith.</p>

<p>Comstock house is one of the ten houses in the quad. Comstock and its twin neighbor, Haynes, were built in 1928. They share a covered front entrance and a bell tower, and their back wings join to form a courtyard that is nicknamed the "mini-quad."&nbsp;Although Comstock has an architectural twin, its many traditions set it apart from the rest. Comstock&nbsp;is haunted by a friendly ghost named Gloria. Gloria rattles doors and makes unexpected appearances to Comstock sleepers. There are tons of events throughout the year, from study breaks to karaoke night.&nbsp;Senior Banquet&nbsp;is one of the last chances for the whole house to gather before final exams and graduation. Each class presents something to the seniors, whether it be poems, toasts or prophecies. The night ends with seniors willing their items to the underclass students. Welcome home!&nbsp;</p>

<p>ConBust as an organization exists to prepare, throughout the year, for the ConBust convention that occurs&nbsp;in the first week of&nbsp;April&nbsp;(this year, March 27- March 29 2020). The convention itself lasts for three days over a weekend and serves to highlight the
role of women and minorities in Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Events include panels, tabletop gaming, artist and dealer rooms, cosplay, guests of all kinds, and much more!</p>
<p>At the beginning of the year, there is a general interest meeting in which any Smith student can volunteer to be a staff member to help with the preparations. At a typical meeting, each staff member reports on the progress on assigned tasks, asks for help
from the other members, and coordinates with the Head ConChair(s). There are usually between 12 and 18 staff members in a given year.</p>

<p>Cushing House is located in the East Quad area of campus - we enjoy a large house community that never feels anonymous, and hope that you will all come to love the house as much as our alums and upperclassmen do! <p>Built in 1957, Cutter's midcentury modern architecture has led to its affectionate nickname, "The Box." Cutter is directly across from the Campus Center, and is only a ten-minute walk to downtown Northampton. Every room has beautiful big windows and a built-in closet and mirror. Residents can often be found studying by the fireplace, playing air hockey, or enjoying the spacious courtyard between Cutter and its sister house, Ziskind. House community is fairly laid-back, and there's a strong sense of "Box Love."</p>

<p>Through the Design Thinking Initiative, a pilot program launched in 2015, Smith is incorporating design thinking into interdisciplinary work across new and existing classes, and supporting student- and faculty-led design projects, including campus wide design challenges to rethink our working and learning spaces. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Emerson House, known affectionately by house members as Efo (which stands for Emerson Forever), is home to 87 members. Emerson is a part of the Paradise Neighborhood and is the main entry point to the quad when coming from campus. Besides our beloved arch, Emerson also has a full kitchen, living room, and our own dining hall. Our dining hall, open for breakfast and dinner (and brunch on the weekends) is the perfect place to come back to after a day on campus since there&rsquo;s always someone to sit with. On nice days, especially at the beginning of the year, residents eat outside together in the middle of the quad. Whether it&rsquo;s playing music in the alcove, throwing water out of the arch during quad riot, or struggling through finals together at 2 am in the dining hall, Emerson residents love being together, because of course, home is where the arch is. FRN redistributes excess prepared food from Smith College to Northampton community members experiencing food insecurity. We collect data from every pan of food we recover and share our findings with Smith Dining Services, enabling them to implement more informed and sustainable ordering practices. Student volunteers rescue food every day across campus, reducing food waste, decreasing CO2 emissions from discarded and composted food, and supplying our partner, Manna Community Kitchen, with the resources they need to support their work fighting food insecurity.

<p>Fun Run Smith is a non-competitive running club, open to runners of all levels of experience. SMIRC, a competitive branch of Fun Run, open to runners with at least some experience (not a strict cut off but most members run a 5k in under 25 min).&nbsp;</p>
<p>Members can choose to participate in local 5k (3.2miles), 10k (6.4 miles) and half marathons (13.1 miles) such as Fall Foliage and Cider Run at Amherst College, Hot Chocolate Run at Smith College, and Dash and Dine at Umass Amherst! SMIRC members participate in intercollegiate races.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Fun Run is a great way to get some exercise, explore the area, and meet new people.</p>

<p>In response to a growing area of Smith student interest in computer programming and engineering, and the preliminary explorations on campus of gaming for educational purposes, the goal of this group is to create a central hub for resources from both on and off campus for the purpose of introducing interested students to video games and the gaming industry, and establish an open space for discussion and exploration of game related topics. The Smith student body consists of demographics typically underrepresented in both games and the gaming industry, and we hope to change that by creating an encouraging starting point as well as a platform to vocalize opinions and experiences in order to shift gaming culture.</p>

<p>Welcome to the Gaming Lab! The Gaming Lab was founded in 2018 by <a href="https://www.smith.edu/academics/faculty/jennifer-malkowski"> Professor Jen Malkowski</a>, associate professor of Film and Media Studies.</p>
<p>Community members get to play all sorts of video games, ranging from Triple-A esports, 1990s arcade games, indie games, and more. We've got something for everyone here! Other than Film and Media Studies, video games can inspire interdisciplinary projects with Studio Art, Computer Science, Education, Women and Gender Studies, and much more.</p>
<p>The Gaming Lab is managed by student Lab Assistants, who will help you pick out a game, set up your game, and make sure you don't run into any technical issues! If you'd like to know more about our open hours, then please check out our Open Hours page! It can vary from semester to semester.</p>

<p>Gillett House is five stories of bricks, chaos, and wood-paneling whose house community is centered around the allegedly haunted elevator and a love for wildlife. From Gillett, it's a 7-minute walk to everywhere on campus (if you speedwalk some places), which is great for the late-risers that stayed up late procrastinating their homework. Built in 1911, Gillett existed long before its younger sibling Northrop, who was built 5 minutes after Gillett (which is why we got the full dining hall).&nbsp;Gillett is easily identified by the covered walkway that connects it to Northrop (Gillett's mirror image except for the dining hall, first-floor bedrooms, and coolness levels), and is named for Edward Gillett-- one of the first trustees of Smith and an energetic supporter of women's education and Smith College.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Across from Gillett on Elm Street is the bus stop, where the PVTA services the entire world (of the 5 College area), and is near John M. Greene Hall, where most all-college events occur, which means we can be notoriously almost-late-but-not-actually-late to functions. We're situated by the corner of Elm Street and Prospect Street at 47 Elm St, but if you put that address into Doordash, it'll take the deliverer to Chase House instead.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Our living room is full of laughter, lively discussions about if all foods can be categorized as a soup, salad, or sandwich, and comfy couches with a fireplace mantel decorated in outdated encyclopedias and a plastic flamingo mascot from the dollar store. There are a few rooms that go to incoming pairs of first-year roommates, but everyone else in the house gets their own room (and some of these single rooms are connected by small hallways, so we refer to these groupings as "cubbies" and the inhabitants as "cubby-mates"). So even if you don't have the opportunity to have a roommate, you'll probably have a cubby-mate during your four years!</p>

<p class="x_p1"><span class="x_s1">The mission of Global Medical Brigades is to work with licensed medical professionals and community health workers to provide comprehensive health services in rural communities in Guatemala, Honduras, Ghana, and Panama.&nbsp;These communities have limited access to health care and the facilities that exist are often severely understaffed and lacking in medical supplies, leaving families with ailments both untreated and undiagnosed, sometimes for an entire lifetime. To help resolve this disparity, Global Brigades has developed a medical program with the goal to provide consistent access to healthcare using an economically sustainable model. The Smith College chapter systematically works with more than 400 other university groups around the world to deliver and implement the medical program.</span></p>

<p>Gold Key was established as the official tour guiding program at Smith College in 1947. Gold Key is an organization comprised of over 80 volunteer tour guides who help with conducting campus tours, hosting virtual chats for prospective students, and assisting with admitted student programs on campus. Gold Key guides give campus tours that reflect their own personal experiences; there is no script. Tours at Smith are unique, individualized experiences. Guides make all the difference in whether students can picture themselves here, so their role cannot be overemphasized. In May 2024, the building&nbsp;was named&nbsp;Granville House in honor of&nbsp;mathematician Evelyn Boyd Granville &rsquo;45, the second African American woman to receive a Ph.D. in mathematics from an American university (Yale) and one of the&nbsp;&ldquo;hidden&nbsp;<span class="x_x_x_x_x_extlink-nobreak">figures,&rdquo;</span>&nbsp;whose pioneering work in computing helped NASA land the first Americans on the moon.</p>

Haven-Wesley (also known as HDub) is made up of two houses: Haven is the large yellow house with the porch swing and Wesley is the smaller blue one. Located right next to the Campus Center and only a short walk to academic buildings and downtown Northampton, Haven-Wesley has the best location on campus. We are known for our tight-knit community of nerds who show up and our annual haunted house!

Cool Facts:
- Haven House was named after Eliza Haven, a woman who lived nearby and donated all of her money to the astronomy department after she died. Because of this, Haven House is often nicknamed the house for the stars!
- Wesley used to be an annex for a church as was located on the other side of Haven where the campus center now sits. In order to make room, Wesley was put on wheels and moved to her existing location.
- Sylvia Plath lived in Haven-Wesley for a year, residing in a room on the third floor of Haven!

<p>We are Hell's Belles Fencing, Smith College's resident fencing team! We hold practice four days a week and participate in regional competitions with both club and varsity teams. We are open to all levels of experience from "never have touched a sword" to "I teach it."&nbsp;If you'd like to stay up to date on what's happening in our team, follow us on Instagram @smithfencing, or contact us to get put on our contact list!</p>
<p>As a club sport versus a varsity sport, we hold practice throughout the academic school year as well as over J-Term. While we encourage our fencers to participate in competitions and practice outside of Smith, nothing is mandatory (save for dues and forms).</p>

<p>Welcome to Hopkins House! Hopkins is a special interest house that specializes in sustainable CULTURAL foods. We're a student co-op, meaning&nbsp;we're off the meal plan and we pay house dues once a semester that fund our livelihood, from everything from our regular meals to house&nbsp;tea and snacks. <p>We, the House Presidents (HP) of Smith College, form the House Presidents Association (HPA), whose goal is to create an open and productive forum for community living. In addition, the HPA will serve as a link between the&nbsp;residential campus and the college. The HPA will establish standards for the&nbsp;community within the framework of self-governance and create change based&nbsp;on informed decisions with regard to all parties involved. We will work with key departments and leaders in the college to resolve our community&rsquo;s concerns. It is&nbsp;the responsibility of the HPA to support each house in its traditions and&nbsp;encourage the positive growth of individual house community and Smith&nbsp;College as a whole. The HPA is a voice for the student residential community&nbsp;within the Student Government Association structure and so will actively and&nbsp;responsively represent students on housing matters.&nbsp;</p>

Hubbard was built in 1879 and is one of the oldest buildings on campus, giving it a well-loved if slightly haunted vibe. It is the only remaining house on campus with no TV (we do have a projector) and is very close to most academic buildings. Hubbard traditions include sock wrestling before the start of final exams, stitch and bitch every week, house picnics on Mountain Day, and having dinner as a house on Julia Child Day.&nbsp;</p>

LASO welcomes people of all backgrounds regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion/ spirituality, class, ability, gender expression, sexual orientation, or immigration status. LASO strives to embrace an active cultural, social, and political exchange between students at Smith and the other colleges of the Pioneer Valley, promote and educate members and the greater Smith community about injustices facing Latin Americans on Smith&rsquo;s campus as well as the rest of the world, and generate unity and understanding between Latin Americans of different backgrounds.</p>

<p>The e-board members of LASO are elected through the democratic action of election. The e-board, known as MESA, consists of 2 co-chairs, 1 treasurer, 1 secretary, 2 social chairs, 2 publicity chairs, 2 five college reps, 2 conference chairs, 2 alumnae reps, 1 historian, 2 first year liaisons, 2 community service reps, and of course our general body members.</p>

<p>The two co-chairs are responsible for overseeing organizational meetings, events, conferences, and the group as a whole. The treasurer handles all the finances of LASO, mostly dealing with the money allotted through the SGA. The two social chairs are responsible for organizing Taste of Latin America (TOLA) and Pa'lante. The secretary records the minutes of each LASO meeting and is responsible for typing and emailing them to the general body. The publicity chairs are responsible for advertising for all events thrown by LASO, they work in conjunction with the 5-college representative in publicizing events throughout the five-college community. The 5-college representative serves as a liaison between Smith and the 5-college community; attends 5-college rep. meetings; plans and organizes 5-college events in order to create ways for our communities/organizations to interact and collaborate; establishes a 5-college committee to assist with events and planning throughout the year. The conference chairs keep the general body informed about all Latin American conferences and compiles an organized list of previous and future conferences. The alumnae reps. act as the liaison between ALAS and LASO, as well as the liaison between the Assistant Director of Alumnae Outreach and the general body. The historian organizes annual photo albums submits material about LASO to the Archives, and yearbook; makes displays or presentations about the organization in the past; takes members pictures, mesa pictures, as well as event pictures, general body pictures, and individual class pictures.</p>

<p>The LASO Dance Group Coordinator promotes and teaches dance as a means to educate the community about our Latin-American roots and traditions. The community service reps. are key to opening and maintaining close ties with the community outside of Smith College. The General Body members support and maintain the organization.</p>

<p>Lawrence house, built in 1891, was named after former student Elizabeth Crocker "Tippy" Lawrence. A portrait of Tippy hangs in Lawrence's study room, which residents call "the Tippy Room." Lawrence was the residence of famed Smith alum Sylvia Plath during her time at Smith. Lawrence residents enjoy their tea on Friday afternoons, apple picking on Mountain Day, and baking cookies in their underwear on Valentine's Day.</p>

Housing the Office for International Study and the Office for International Students and Scholars, the center provides a setting where international and domestic students and faculty educate each other about their languages and cultures. <p>Smith Model United Nations is an organization that is focused on debating international issues. Every week, we meet to discuss a current, historical, or fictional topic, with each of us representing a country or character with a stake in the issue. Over a few weeks, we argue, negotiate, and write resolutions to try to solve the problem, and then we pick a new topic. Annually, we participate in running the Five College Model United Nations Conference as crisis directors, chairs, and staffers for their committees. We also attend the Harvard National Model United Nations Conference as delegates, and are planning to go to more conferences in the future. <p>Positioned as a student advocated partner of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, a branch of the Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Department, the Mwangi Cultural Center is an important cornerstone on campus, providing a physical space for cultural organizations and students of color to engage in holistic programming, host intellectually enriching discussions, and effectively build community.</p>
<p>The Mwangi Cultural Center opened as the Afro-American Cultural Center on the lower level of Lilly Hall in 1968 and was used by a variety of student cultural organizations. In 1973 the center was renamed to honor Dr. Ng'endo Mwangi, a member of the class of 1961 and the first female physician in Kenya, whose dedication and service to her community were well known. At the time of Ng'endo's death in 1989, Smith students wrote "We, the Smith students of today, owe Mwangi a great debt for being one of the vanguard of women who broke down racial and gender barriers, thereby making our progress a little easier."</p>

<p>ASA provides a support network for Asian and Asian Pacific American students and&nbsp;serves as a link to other Asian Pacific American organizations at the Five Colleges. ASA hosts a variety of collaborative events each year, highlighted by an Asian Teahouse and a fall conference.</p>
<h4>Black Students&rsquo; Alliance (BSA)</h4>

<p>Pan Asians in Action (PAiA) is a support and activist group focused on uniting the Asian/American/Pacific Islander community at Smith College to enact social change. We are committed to learning about social justice, teaching ourselves and others about political issues related to the AAPI community, and fostering inclusivity within our organization. We also wish to work as allies for other social justice causes that affect people not solely related to AAPI identities, in consideration of the intersectionality of oppression. As an activist group, we will host discussions and panels, work towards campaigns on and off campus, and engage with the 5 College AAPI activist community.</p>
<p>Given that approximately a quarter of Smith students identify as Asian/American/Pacific Islander we find that it is necessary to unite and recognize this large and diverse community (South Asian, East Asian, Southeast Asian, Pacific-Islander, Multi-Racial, Multi-Ethnic, Transnational, Adoptee, etc.) while also critically looking at where these identities diverge and intersect through activism and discussion that we had previously not found in other student organizations.</p>

<p>Park House welcomes you and hopes you consider us your home away from home while at Smith this year!</p>
<p>Park House was built in 1880 by W.T. Clement, the founder of Clement Cutlery Company. In 1909, the house was acquired by Emily Malbon, who rented it as off-campus housing for Smith students. When Smith College acquired the property in 1923, Mrs. Malbon's (as it was once known) became Park House, named for one of the original trustees of the college, Reverend Edwards Amasa Park. We're one of the only houses on campus to have a view of Paradise Pond&mdash;come join us for tea in the living rooms on Friday for a good view!</p>

<div>Sessions Complex is comprised of two houses - the main house and the annex! The house was built in 1710 by Captain Jonathan Hunt and is believed to be the oldest house in Northampton, awash with a rich history. The house contains a secret staircase that was designed as a passageway; it is said that it was used as a hideaway from Native Americans, and during the Civil War as part of the Underground Railroad. Legend (and the word of many current residents) claims that the house is haunted by Lucy Hunt, the granddaughter of Captain Hunt. Lucy and her British lover Johnny Burgoyne, who was held captive in the house during the Revolutionary War, would rendezvous in the secret staircase!</div>

<div>The annex was built in 1873 and used to be known as the White House Inn. Between 1969 and 1977, it served as a residence hall for men attending Smith on exchange programs, but was converted into a residence for Smith undergrads in 1977! <p>Smith College Synchro is a club sport. As a club, we left behind the formal, old-school style of the sport and created a joyful splash-friendly synchro style that focuses on inclusivity. We are the oldest club on campus, recently celebrating our 100th anniversary!</p>

<p>While we do not go to competitions, we do put on an incredible show at the end of each semester! Each show has a unique music theme and is open to the public. We practice once a week as a full team, Thursdays from 7-9 PM, and once a week in separate groups, Tuesday or Sunday. We do warm-ups together, both on land and in the pool, and then work on our choreography. You will learn the basic sculls (swim strokes) that we use to move around, eggbeater (synchro version of treading water), how to hold your breath underwater for a while, and a variety of cool moves to practice, like helicopter, crane, and pinwheel. You will be surprised how much you can learn in a semester- most of our swimmers had never done synchro before college! We hope you join our family!</p>

<p><strong>2. Studio membership</strong> costs $10-$30 per semester. Students complete a training orientation and then can access the studio for independent work time 7 days a week, 7am-10pm. <p>As a volunteer student organization on campus, the Bike Kitchen strives to educate and provide for a diverse community. People of all backgrounds (ESPECIALLY with no experience!) are invited to learn how to take apart, rebuild, and maintain bikes. We rent bikes per semester and also have a work-trade program in which students are encouraged to trade volunteer hours in exchange for access to a bike. Although the Bike Kitchen was started as a leisure club, it has moved more and more into the realm of social justice, and we constantly strive to restitute inequality through the power of mechanical engineering, sustainability, and reclamation of what is "leisure!"</p>

<p>Smith Equestrian encompasses both the competitive hunt seat team and the non-competing club riders. We are a diverse group of Smithies ranging in experience from beginners to advanced riders. Some team members have been riding their whole lives, and some started their riding careers with Smith Equestrian. Our team members have ridden in equitation, show jumping, dressage, western, saddle seat, and everything in between.</p>

Members have auditioned and shown at least some baseline singing skills, though many are not music majors or minors and you don&rsquo;t need to be excellent at reading music. If you don&rsquo;t get in, you can take Intro to Choral Singing to develop your skills and try again another semester. If you want more musical challenge, consider auditioning for the Chamber Singers as well.</span></p>

Fall semester includes classical and contemporary choral music from around the world for Autumn Serenade; pop repertoire for Montage; and hymns* at Vespers to support Friends of the Hampshire County Homeless. Spring semester includes the Iva Dee Hiatt Spring Oratorio, where we collaborate with other college choirs to sing major choral works; Rally Day, where the college celebrates seniors in spectacular hats and we sing Gaudeamus Igitur; and the commencement concert, for which seniors pick favorite songs from their time in Glee.</span></p>

<p>SGC is a network for student gamers at Smith College to connect and play together. Our organization supports both video games, including online gaming and story-driven RPGs, and traditional table top games like Dungeons and Dragons. We recognize the value and history of gaming, in both its cultural relevance and potential as an medium of storytelling. This is particularly relevant at Smith, as the majority of games are male-dominated and present negative or outright unhealthy depictions of women. We aim to create a safe space for women and marginalized people to enjoy gaming in all its facets. <p>We, SKDC, are a diverse dance crew for those who enjoy listening to and / or dancing to K-Pop, or just love to dance. K-Pop, or Korean Pop, is a genre of music that originates from South Korea. Anyone who is enthusiastic and would like to have a fun time, regardless of whether or not the person is a K-Pop fan, is welcome to join. Prior experience is NOT required. We have a weekly general meetings open to all on Saturdays. We also have project groups that perform and / or film our Youtube video covers!</p>

<p>College students have been at the forefront of social change throughout history, and they have the power to make the world a better place now while also shaping the future. MASSPIRG provides the training, professional support and resources Smithies need
to create a better, more sustainable future for all of us. At Smith, we are affiliated with MASSPIRG, a student action and training program that has been helping student activists get organized, mobilized and energized for over 50 years. Smith PIRG's main
campaigns focus on making textbooks more affordable, registering young people to vote, and combating hunger and homelessness in our community! We spend the school year fundraising, hosting events, working with Smith and local community members and volunteering.&nbsp;</p>

SSFFS provides a space for fans of all science fiction and fantasy media to come together and explore, discuss, and celebrate their interests. Centered around science fiction &amp; fantasy literature, film, fandom, cosplay, comics, and tabletop gaming &amp; roleplaying, our organization promotes female, queer, and trans stories and experiences in these traditionally male-dominated geek spaces. SSFFS celebrates fans' unapologetic enthusiasm and seeks to foster a community that encourages members to earnestly share their passions.

We offer a variety of science fiction and fantasy related meetings throughout the week, including activities on Mondays, TTRPG one-shots on Wednesdays, discussions on Thursdays, and boffing or media events on Saturdays. We also host an annual Halloween Costume Party in the fall and Faerie Changeling Ball in the spring, as well as excursions off campus, including to local Ren Faires.

Club members can also check out books and other media from our science fiction and fantasy library in King Basement.
