<p><strong>Activities:</strong></p>
<p>Our faculty and administrative staff provide incoming students with an experience that is engaging, thought-provoking, exciting, rewarding, meaningful and fun—and that will help make their first year at Smith College a success.</p>
<p>Bridge participants attend lively presentations that explore the various dimensions of leadership. Seminar titles have included "Treasures to Success," "Finding the Activist in You," "(Un)Speakable Truths," "SENSEsational Expressions" and "Leadership: The Power of Our Presence." Social activities have included bowling, karaoke, poetry readings and visits to local eateries and shops.</p>
<p>During Bridge a number of faculty members and knowledgeable staff members offer seminars that allow Bridge participants to experience the academic environment in a friendly setting and develop contacts with faculty and staff, as well as learn something interesting.</p>

<p><strong>Student Leaders: </strong></p>
<p>Our trained and experienced Bridge leaders are professional, multi-ethnic and dedicated to offering a quality program. Student staff members are selected for their leadership experience and enthusiasm, interpersonal skills, ability to balance multiple responsibilities and strong desire to work with incoming students of color. The ratio of student staff to Bridge participants is approximately 1 to 5.</p>

<p dir="ltr">What's good about First Gen Out Loud?</p>
<p dir="ltr">We have weekly peer-led dinners to engage you in reflection and conversation, we go away on a retreat over fall break, build connections with older students who went through the program, and meet staff and faculty around the college who are particularly interested in connecting with first-gen students, being reminded of how amazing Smith's first-gen community is, and of how much the community brings to Smith.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The First-Year Experience Program provides </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">opportunities for you to better get to know </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Smith and yourself through events and </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">happenings. These programs take place the first seven weeks of the semester. We ease the transition to college </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">life by helping you find the support you need to </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">adjust to life at Smith and to make connections </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">with classmates, faculty and staff. Events also </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">help you foster friendships with students from </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">other houses and majors</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">. We aim to make your first year </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">enriching and fun, promoting your overall </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">success at Smith.</span></p>

<p>In response to a growing area of Smith student interest in computer programming and engineering, and the preliminary explorations on campus of gaming for educational purposes, the goal of this group is to create a central hub for resources from both on and off campus for the purpose of introducing interested students to video games and the gaming industry, and establish an open space for discussion and exploration of game related topics. The Smith student body consists of demographics typically underrepresented in both games and the gaming industry, and we hope to change that by creating an encouraging starting point as well as a platform to vocalize opinions and experiences in order to shift gaming culture.</p>

<p>Gold Key was established as the official tour guiding program at Smith College in 1947. Gold Key is an organization comprised of over 80 volunteer tour guides who help with conducting campus tours, hosting virtual chats for prospective students, and assisting with admitted student programs on campus. Gold Key guides give campus tours that reflect their own personal experiences; there is no script. Tours at Smith are unique, individualized experiences. Guides make all the difference in whether students can picture themselves here, so their role cannot be overemphasized. Gold Keys choose to give tours because they love Smith, and want to tell other people why!</p>

<p class="x_x_x_p1">Comprised of actual student athletes, SAAC functions as the voice of the varsity athlete community. Every varsity team is represented creating an eclectic environment of many voices striving to achieve a greater student-athlete experience. SAAC offers input on rules, regulations and policies that directly influence student- athlete's lives. We function as a conduit between the athletic department, including coaches, and student- athletes to ensure the best experience for every varsity student-athlete.</p>
<p class="x_x_x_p1">In addition to rules and regulations, SAAC also does community outreach. This includes events such as can drives, themed runs, on-campus competitions and larger fundraisers that directly supports community organizations.</p>
