<p>Welcome to the Smith College Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Team! We are a group of Smithies who love to grapple in a safe and positive environment. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art focused on ground grappling. It was developed with the goal of creating a fighting form where size and strength do not matter. It utilizes body weight physics instead of pure strength, and it is a submission martial art, so you win by making your opponent "tap out". In addition, it has many applications in self-defense and MMA.</p>
<p>In this club, we will be learning the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu in a safe and comfortable environment. Newcomers are welcome and encouraged to come!</p>
<p>Meetings are Wednesday 3:30 - 5 pm and Sundays 4-6 pm in the rockclimbing gym! <br />Hope to see you on the mats!</p>

<p id="yui_3_17_2_1_1675391201105_225" class="">Matriculate is a non-profit organization that strives to help thousands of incredibly talented and high-achieving, low-income high school students who miss the chance to attend some of the top colleges simply because they do not apply.&nbsp;This lost opportunity means that these top students may attend colleges where they ultimately pay more and do not receive the support that they deserve, leading to lower grades and graduation rates, as well as more debt.</p>

The mission of Moonlight Classical Chinese Dance Club (MCCD) is to introduce, practice, and celebrate Chinese classical dance within the campus community. Through regular practices, workshops, performances, and cultural events, MCCD provides an inclusive space for students of all backgrounds and levels of dance experience to engage with Chinese dance and culture through movement, artistic expression, and community.

Members of MCCD will have opportunities to participate in regular dance practices and workshops, learn Chinese classical dance techniques and choreography, and perform at campus and community events. Members can develop their dance skills, stage experience, confidence, teamwork, and artistic expression while learning more about Chinese performing arts and cultural traditions. MCCD also provides a welcoming social community for students interested in dance and Chinese culture. The Psychology Club at Smith College (est. 2024) is open to all undergraduate students enrolled at Amherst College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The club is open to any student, psychology major or not. <p>Open to all students who consider themselves pre-health regardless of background, major, or identity. The goal of this club is to create a non-competitive, collaborative community of pre-health students on campus. A. Membership in this organization shall be open to all students in good standing
currently enrolled at Smith College (or a Five College institution) regardless of race, color, creed, religion, national/ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, or with regard to the bases outlined in the Veterans Readjustment Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
B. Membership shall be retained until the student severs relations with the College whether by graduation or otherwise. Membership will be retained during the vacations and recesses of the College.
C. Active Membership requires being included on the roster of the Smith College Pre-Health Society on the Smith Social Network. An active member must attend at least 1 meeting each semester.
D. In accordance with the Smith College Student Handbook and Massachusetts state law, there shall be no hazing, harassment or mandatory participation in activities in which a
Article I:
member does not wish to participate. Hazing and the punishments are defined by the Smith Student Handbook.
E. If a member fails to comply with Smith College policies, or behaves in a manner contrary to the Smith College Handbook, they may be asked to leave the organization by a majority of the Executive Board

MassPIRG is a statewide student-run nonprofit advocacy organization operating at various colleges across the state of Massachusetts.

College students have been at the forefront of social change throughout history, and they have the power to make the world a better place now while also shaping the future. MASSPIRG provides the training, professional support and resources Smithies need be a part of creating a more sustainable future for all of us. We spend the school year fundraising, hosting events, working with Smith and local community members and volunteering.

In the past, Smith PIRG's main campaigns have been focused on making textbooks more affordable, registering young people to vote, and combating hunger and homelessness in our community! As we begin this new chapter, our current student members will help decide what our focus will be on in the future!

<p>The Smith College Tap Ensemble is an organization dedicated to tap dance and tap dance lovers. We're entirely student-run and collaborative; members lead warm-ups, teach classes, and choreograph for the group.</p>
<p>We meet once a week, and meetings are divided into two parts: a beginner class and an intermediate+ rehearsal. In the beginner class, beginner tappers (and anyone else who wants to come) learn how to tap. In the intermediate+ portion, we learn combinations, teach each other new steps, and rehearse for performances.</p>
<p>We're open to all Five College students and faculty and we welcome all skill levels - from complete beginners to very experienced tappers! Active members should come to as many meetings as they can, but it's totally okay to not be able to commit to every week!</p>
