<p>The Office of Disability Services works to assure equal access and promote full inclusion of people with disabilites at Smith College. &nbsp;ODS coordinates services and supports for students with all types of disabilities, supports mentoring and community connections among students, and conducts community wide educational events. &nbsp;Anyone interested in discussions health or disability concerns or in need of resources is welcome to visit our offices in College Hall room 104. <p>Active Minds, Inc. is the only organization working to utilize the student voice to change the conversation about mental health on college campuses. Smith's own chapter is a student-run mental health awareness, education, and advocacy group on campus, working
to increase students’ awareness of mental health issues through events, workshops and panels, provide information and resources regarding mental health and mental illness, encourage students to seek help as soon as it is needed, and serve as liaison between
students, Counseling Services and the Wellness Department.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Al-Iman is a Muslim Student Organization affiliated with the National MSA network. The objective is to create an environment for Muslims and allies to bond in open spaces exploring Islam and the Muslim identity. In reaching this goal, the organization plans social events, organizes lectures, and holds spiritual spaces, conducive to growth and unity in and outside of the Muslim community. With Islam grounding the org, Al-Iman takes on both a spiritual and social role while also centering our civic and global responsibility to humanity. Through the work or this organization, we hope to increase the personal and communal understanding of the beauty of Islam and its true tenants of Iman (faith), Salam (peace), and Khidmat (service).</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Albright House is located on Bedford Terrace at the edge of campus, making it a quiet and comfortable environment to live in. Albrighters are welcomed into a beautiful brick house, built in 1900, with a homey and cozy feel. Our house community is friendly, flexible, and spirited: levels of involvement and participation are based on how comfortable each member is, and we always try to support each other. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We have a lot of house pride, especially during Convocation when we take house photos together on the front steps. Our house color is pink, and our unofficial mascots are a pink figurine of Jesus that doubles as a (broken) magic 8-ball, Pedro the Peach, and Tina the Fairy.&nbsp;</span></p>

<p>All doors to the ITT are locked by the time we start shooting so if you are running late and are stuck outside, text the WhatsApp group chat.</p>
<p>Coaches and board members have access to the main Ainsworth doors so they should be able to let you in there, then you go straight down the hallway through the doors, and continue straight to the hallway that leads to the ITT, and head across the tennis courts to the wall near the bathrooms and the doors to the outside.</p>

<p><strong>CURRENTLY INACTIVE</strong></p>
<p>Welcome to the Smith College Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Team! We are a group of Smithies who love to grapple in a safe and positive environment. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art focused on ground grappling. It was developed with the goal of creating a fighting form where size and strength do not matter. It utilizes body weight physics instead of pure strength, and it is a submission martial art, so you win by making your opponent "tap out". In addition, it has many applications in self-defense and MMA.</p>
<p>In this club, we will be learning the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu in a safe and comfortable environment. Newcomers are welcome and encouraged to come!</p>
<p>Meetings are Wednesday 3:30 - 5 pm and Sundays 4-6 pm in the rockclimbing gym! <br />Hope to see you on the mats!</p>

<p>Our faculty and administrative staff provide incoming students with an experience that is engaging, thought-provoking, exciting, rewarding, meaningful and fun&mdash;and that will help make their first year at Smith College a success.</p>
<p>Bridge participants attend lively presentations that explore the various dimensions of leadership. Seminar titles have included "Treasures to Success," "Finding the Activist in You," "(Un)Speakable Truths," "SENSEsational Expressions" and "Leadership: The Power of Our Presence." Social activities have included bowling, karaoke, poetry readings and visits to local eateries and shops.</p>
<p>During Bridge a number of faculty members and knowledgeable staff members offer seminars that allow Bridge participants to experience the academic environment in a friendly setting and develop contacts with faculty and staff, as well as learn something interesting.</p>

<p><strong>Student Leaders: </strong></p>
<p>Our trained and experienced Bridge leaders are professional, multi-ethnic and dedicated to offering a quality program. Student staff members are selected for their leadership experience and enthusiasm, interpersonal skills, ability to balance multiple responsibilities and strong desire to work with incoming students of color. The ratio of student staff to Bridge participants is approximately 1 to 5.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Celebration is an annual event focused on unifying the campus and celebrating love&nbsp;in all its forms.&nbsp;It takes place on Wilson house steps and begins with a candlelight vigil which serves as a reminder of homophobic and transphobic incidents on campus and in the greater community.&nbsp;Then, Smith houses and student organizations are invited to&nbsp;perform songs, dances, and poetry to celebrate loving without boundaries.&nbsp;</span></p>

<p>Chapin House, which was built in 1903, is part of the Green St. community, yet it is found right next to the Campus Center and only a few minutes walk from most academic buildings.&nbsp;</p>
<p>FUN FACT:&nbsp;Chapin's original staircase is rumored to have served as the inspiration for the staircase&nbsp;of Scarlett O'Hara's Tara in <strong><em>Gone With the Wind</em></strong>, since the novel's author, <strong>Margaret Mitchell</strong>, attended Smith. However, despite many sources claiming that she lived in Chapin, Margaret Mitchell actually lived in Spanish Influenza quarantine housing during her one year at Smith.</p>
